Getting around in Cozumel
Public Transportation in Cozumel
WTR's Tony Transit's says the best way to get around in Cozumel is walking, taxis and rent-a-car.
Tony also says when arriving at the airport purchase tickets at the Transporte Terreste counter. Outside the terminal you get in a van, and tell your driver where you are going.
After arriving at your lodging via Transporte Terreste, you will find that taxis are readily available and moderately priced.
Recognition for Cozumel

BACKGROUND for Cozumel
Dee and I have been going to Cozumel for more than 25 years. The time frame is the holiday season of Christmas and New Years. It's no longer a small fishing, diving and snorkeling village. There are many excellent dining choices and it's developing as an artist community. Transportation, communication and street sculptures have been added and maintained.
For more than 20 of those years we have stayed at Condumel - Carretera Costera Norte Km.1.5 on the north Hotel Zone, 987/872-0892
Captain Bill has 10 units located just North of San Miguel. It’s an easy walk to town where there are many good restaurants, shops, galleries and boutiques.
Our condo at Condumel has a living area, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. The fridge is stocked with essentials, and you pay for the things that you use such as: beer and water. Our unit is on the first floor with window walls facing the water and the beach.
I can be found in a large chair facing the water watching the boats go by, reading and writing. The snorkeling here is great as is the diving. It’s so safe that the President of Mexico has a residence next door.
When we reach our condo at Condumel the manager Sara and the owner meet us with smiles and hugs, and offer us whatever we need.
This is the view that we enjoy at Condumel.
Lagniappe for Cozumel
WTR's Carlota Cuisine recommends the Cozumel Cooking Class at Kondesa - 5 Ave Sur #456, 869 1086
Several years ago Kris the owner of Kinta and Kondesa told us that he was going to offer a cooking class, which he did. For whatever reason, we never got to it.
This year (our 28th trip to Cozumel) we decided to participate. Kris is now in Denver operating two restaurants and Daniel, Kris’ newish partner, is in charge of their restaurants in Cozumel and the cooking school.
Don’t miss it. To quote our friend D3 “it’s a blast”.
Daniel and his staff do a great job beginning with a brief historical background of Maya cooking methods and ingredients.
Next, you become involved with hands-on prep, cooking, drink mixology (a different Margarita) and yes, enjoying the fruits of your endeavors – and then some!
Toques on for Daniel and the Kondesa Cooking Class.
