Dining in Istanbul
Our Carlota Cuisine says for the best dinner you should make a reservation at Yeni Lokanta - L & D: M-Sa, Kumbaraci Yokusu No, 66, 90 212 292 2550
Turkish sausage with a bean puree, grilled sea bass stuffed with onions, oven roasted chicken with chick peas. Order the special house dessert. Excellent bar and Turkish wines.
Nightlife/Entertainment in Istanbul
WTR's Shauna Showtime says Beyoğlu is Istanbul's nightlife hub.
Shopping - Farmers Markets in Istanbul
On the Asian side our Shari Shopper reports the best market is the Kadikoy. The reason we found this large all purpose market is we wanted to eat at Ciya Sofrasi (see Day Two) which was a great recommendation.
Shari also recommends Emihonu Egyptian Spice Bazaar next to the “Grand Bazaar” – open daily, excellent for dried fruits, spices olives and oils.
Tarlabasi is close enough to Taksin’s Istikal street to make this market a stop. It’s edgy! Famous for figs, honey, fruits and pickled everything.
Botanically Yours in Istanbul
WTR's Greta Gardener recommends these gardens for our horticultural friends.
Nezahat Gokyigit (Botanik Bahcesi ) – Daily: 9-5:30, Ataşehir Ataturk Mahallesi, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Caddesi, TEM Otoyolu Anadolu Otoyol Kavsagi PK:81120 Istanbul, 90 216 456 44 37
Greta thinks this has to be a one-of-its-kind garden for the location. It situated in the middle of a clover leaf of 2 major highways.
It is lovely and worth your time. You’ll never forget it or stop talking about it.
